H.E. Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, visiting the Korean DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) located on the border of South Korea and North Korea on September 19, 2018.

While attending the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference, Minister Sun had the opportunity to visit the Demilitarized Zone, currently considered safe due to political détente between the two countries.

This historical area, established by the provisions of the Korean Armistice Agreement, serves as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea.

The DMZ currently attracts many tourists who can learn more about the past conflict between the two countries. The Korean war took place from 1950 to 1953, after which an Armistice was signed. Over 36,000 people are estimated to have perished during this conflict.
